Dream Years

Last night we had our fall GIFT Advisory Board Meeting.  I find meetings like last night encouraging because in the process of updating others I’m reminded that God is at work.

It is easier to see that right now too because it seems that we are in the midst of some ‘dream years’.  We have two solid music teams who have been growing in leadership and music ability over the past year.  There is a core group (guys especially) who have made themselves available to set up, take down and learn how sound systems work and how to improve our sound quality.

In the last two months I’ve had other responsibilities that conflicted with GIFT but I knew that these teens are capable and no qualms about letting them take the lead and organize themselves in my absence.  What an awesome thing to be able to pass that on!

Unfortunately, the down side of working with teenagers is that they graduate and, especially because we’re in a rural area, usually move away for schooling and work opportunities.  So I’m looking to the future and wondering where the next crop of leaders is going to come from.

Maybe someday one of the teens who was in GIFT will come back after some time away and jump in to the leadership here.  I think it would be awesome to have some young people who are involved have a vision for the future of this community and come back to invest!
